DIY Gift Basket

Have you ever struggled on what to get your friend or spouse for their birthday or special occasion? This DIY gift basket is not only inexpensive, but very thoughtful! I found a super cute basket at a consignment shop for 50 cents! & I went to the dollar store and found & made some cute things to add to the basket. Things I knew my friend would love! Here is how to make this DIY gift basket!

Things you need:

  • Small/Medium basket (check your local consignment/thrift shop, old Easter baskets work good too!)
  • Tissue paper or basket filling (I had some cute tissue paper in a drawer)
  • List of goodies to add to the basket
  • Card for the occasion (optional)

Make a list of all the things you will need. I made a list of all the things I knew my girlfriend loves & stuff I thought she would like. Get creative! For girlfriends it can be anything from small hand lotions, perfumes, lip gloss, makeup kits, nail polishes, candles, coffee cups, chocolates…For the guys, playing cards, small bottle of cologne, coffee, coffee mug, chocolates/candies, hot sauce, meats & cheeses. I got all my goodies from the dollar store but if you don’t want to do that you can see if you can find some name brand things on sale.

Find some tissue paper you may have around the house, if you don’t have any get some cheap stuff from the dollar store. Use it to line your basket. Then add your goodies 🙂

For my girlfriend’s birthday basket, since she loves coffee, I bought a plain white coffee mug for $1 and used my silhouette machine & permanent vinyl to cut a design for the mug. “Bless this hot mess” fit her perfectly 😉 I used mint colored vinyl for the design since mint is her favorite color.

She LOVES Reese’s Cups with Reese’s pieces inside, so of course I bought 2 king size since they were on sale 2 for $3! I found some lip gloss, body spray, nail files, purple nail polish (its a great fall color) & a face mask at the Dollar General & only spent $5.

These gift baskets can be used for many occasions & you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make something thoughtful! Share your creations! 🙂 ♥xoxo♥
